Lombard

Park View Elementary Project Expand / 4th Grade

I am Lombard, I worry for my future!!

Many Lombardians are not concerned with water conservation, waste management, transportation, and energy.

I am dieing from pollution. The air is so polluted that the clouds are coughing and crying acid rain. The acid rain is falling on rooftops and running through the gutters into the grass. It is killing the trees, plants, and animals. The trees have not been blossoming. The plants have not been blooming. The rain is mixing with the pond water which is killing the fish and "Mother Nature". Valuable water is being wasted.

People are dropping bottles, paper, and aluminum everywhere. The garbage cans are overflowing. The overflow is seeping into the ponds and causing havoc with the fish and other wildlife.

Cars, vans, and trucks leave behind exhaust that evaporates into the air. It is causing dangerous, toxic pollution. Most people are driving separately to their destinations rather than carpooling, walking, or riding bikes.

Electrical lines stretch across Lombard taking up useful land. Crackling can be heard from the power lines. Many people leave electronic and battery operated items on when not needed. Homes can be seen during the day with lights illuminated.

I dream of a future free of worry!

I will be free from pollution. The air is clean. The white clouds are smiling as they look down on the green roofs. Sparkling, white clouds shed clear, fresh water onto the beautiful plants and flowers that are growing on the green roofs. The trees are in full bloom. Grass is lush, green, and healthy. Fish are swimming in the clear pond water. Water is being conserved and reused to help me become sustainable!

People are recycling, reusing, and reducing. The garbage cans are barely full because more people are recycling and composting natural resources. Fish are happily swimming in the sparkling, transparent pond. Flowers bloom around the pond where litter previously laid!

Cars, vans, and trucks are operated by solar and battery energy. Vehicles no longer leave behind polluted exhaust. Air is easier to breathe. People carpool regularly, ride bikes, and walk to their destinations!

Solar panels are used for lights, houses, and industries. Land is being used for gardens and parks. People are conserving energy for the future generations. Homes are illuminated by brilliant sunlight!

Lombardians will understand that my future lies in their hands. I will rely on them to conserve water, recycle waste, conserve my natural resources, and conserve energy.

I am Lombard and I will live forever!
