MY CITY

I, the City of Palmira have beautiful parks and pretty monuments, I am special for being the leading city in sugar cane production, and for having a big agricultural infrastructure, I am famous because the majority of my inhabitants have bicycles as an environmentally-friendly means of transportation. I often feel pain when pollution invades my areas and main tourist attractions, I am also affected by the poor state of my transportation routes, - and the violence which affects my inhabitants who are like children to me. Nowadays my inhabitants think up ways to carry on with their lives financially and there are moto taxistas, which are motorcycle drivers who play the same role as a taxi, bus or bicycle, but quickly, efficiently, and while polluting less, a current means of transport, unfortunately many of them are not aware of the importance of obeying the traffic laws I have put in place.

Socially I am a hard-working city which strives to grow more and more, to offer well being to all; as a cityI would like to have a better economy and road infrastructures in better condition, and receive the modernity of other cities and be modernised and more civic-minded city.

I am considered the agricultural capital of Colombia, and I am also known for my important economic and cultural growth, today, I have over 300,000 (three hundred thousand) of my beloved inhabitants, I should also point out that I have important health services companies, I will mention some below: Acuaviva responsible for providing potable water, for the needs of my palmireños, radio Palmira and canal CNC television keep my citizens informed, about current events which take place inside me lead by tele Palmira a joint venture company, created in 1996, in addition to Comfaunión or Comfarniliares del Valle- responsible for looking after the health, of my palmireños, all of these companies 100% palmireñas which work daily for the wellbeing of my citizens Oh! I can't forget Plamaseo, responsible for maintaining pretty and sparkling, and responsible for making citizens aware, of the importance of maintaining clean and neat.
