As supplying water (particularly for the cattle) is the main preoccupation of the population of Kanel, we considered it necessary to make some changes aimed at improving living conditions for the people of Kanel.
Our project consists in digging a water retention basin about 10 meters deep with a surface area of about 200 square meters, as illustrated with the basin we drew on the right-hand side of our drawing.
Around this basin, areas of earth will be worked to produce fruit and vegetables. Vegetable crops would be protected by a fence. The big trees seen to the left-hand side of our drawing would produce fruit. In the middle, an area is set aside for cattle to move through and access the water. Fish-farming would be developed within the basin. This would produce a considerable amount of fish.
This project would have a great deal of positive repercussions: cattle farmers wouldn't have to worry any more about watering their cattle. For another thing, this project would mean the creation of many jobs particularly for women who could sell their crops. These women could financially support their husbands who are mainly retired or unemployed.
With a diet rich in fruit and vegetables, malnutrition would become less common.
Finally, this project would be a way of fighting against environmental damage. The crops would protect and enrich the soil.
