In the context of a class project, children (aged between 9 and 11) will investigate - in their region, their town, their district or their village, and explore the concept of progress and sustainable development. "Is progress always a step forward?", "Does everyone have the same way of seeing progress?".
What is "Sketches around the world"?

The purpose of the program
This year, the program has an international dimension.
Children from 27 countries will do their best to answer these questions...
Two drawings to be done:
Helped by their teachers, children will explore the concept of sustainable development. They will then have to carry out two types of drawings.
- The first drawing will have to reflect an initiative already in place which, in their view, represents a major advance in the area of the environment, health and the quality of life.
- The second drawing will propose a project which could be the subject of a program and which the children would wish to see carried out.
The international meeting of winning representatives
The prize for two students and an adult in each country will be an invitation to take part in the international meeting of winning classes. This will take place during the first week of June 2006 at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris.
This week is significant: it is in fact the week dedicated to education for sustainable development against the background of the sixtieth anniversary of UNESCO.
