Atmospheric pollution from cars

Vehicles are responsible for more than a third of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

According to data from the World Bank, in 2010, there will be 816 million motor vehicles on earth (there were 700 million in 2003). However, in 2000 world production of cars was a record 40.9 million vehicles, or 4% more than the previous year. At that rate, we will reach the 2010 forecast level a lot sooner than we thought!

The use of public transportation reduces pollution

Vehicles are responsible for more than a third of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. The air quality in some cities is at critical level and is affecting the health of the residents in a worrying fashion. Only the use of public transportation can change this situation: they pollute 20 times less and use 5 times less energy than cars to transport the same number of passengers.
