Understanding the faces of sustainable development

As we have already mentioned, Sustainable Development consists of three necessary elements: good economic management, social advances and the preservation of the environment.

The concept of "sustainable development" cannot be separated from the concepts of prevention, precaution, responsibility and solidarity. For a project to further the cause of "sustainable development", all these concepts must be present too.

What about culture ?

The concept of "sustainable development" is associated more and more with areas which traditionally were neglected by development. Culture is one of them: in 2001, it was recognized as a source of development in its own right in the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity adopted by UNESCO.
