A second life for household packaging: a terrific sustainable development idea!

According to official figures, each person in Europe produces more than 400 kg of household waste each year. In France, of this 400 kg, 86 are scrapped packaging. Since a system of rubbish sorting has been put in place, households have learned to sort these different packages.

Cardboard, glass and plastic bottles, paper...

Cardboard, glass and plastic bottles, paper, newspapers, glass packaging and tins, are all separated.

A bit more than 50 kg per year per person ends up being sorted in this way. Once it has been separated, the packaging goes to recycling facilities and is turned back into raw material, which is then sent to other factories to be transformed into new products.

This is how a plastic bottle ends up as fiber stuffing in a pillow or as a fleece jacket, or as an outdoor seat, a watering can or a fruit punnet.
