Learning the basics of hygiene to improve your health

In some countries, water is drawn from wells then stored at the home in earthenware jars or plastic drums. When people want to drink, they plunge their cups directly into the storage container.

If their hands are not completely clean, they can contaminate all of the water in the container by doing so. Children who drink the contaminated water become ill and get diarrhea, which sometimes leads to dehydration and even death. For this reason, educational programs to encourage people to wash their hands carefully have been initiated in villages and in schools, in order to protect the health of the people there.
