Action to protect the environment

People alive in the world today will consume more natural resources than all the people who lived in past centuries put together. And we should not forget that this consumption is very unbalanced: 20% of the world's population alone consumes 80% of the planet's resources!

The world's population continues to grow, and so do its demands. The whole world has a right to a proper standard of living, yet the Earth's resources are limited.

What can be done?

Large-scale projects can be undertaken, such as the construction of a drinking water or wastewater decontamination plant, the organization of domestic refuse collection and treatment, or the construction of a tramway. But small projects can also improve the daily lives of people living in the area.

These small or large projects provide progress in areas which are sometimes very different but often connected:

  • the improvement of air quality,
  • the protection of natural resources (water, earth, raw materials, biodiversity etc.),
  • the ability to access quality health care,
  • and all to improve people's living conditions and health.

Veolia Environnement, due to its history, the innovations resulting from its research, the access to its services and the professionalism of its employees, is a major force in favor of the environment.

But everybody can protect the environment and preserve health by taking action on a daily basis.
