Streamers Around the World in Bangkok

After the successful participation in the "Scroll Around the World" in 2004, Veolia Water Thailand has participated in the latest campaign organized by Veolia Environnement "Streamers Around the World".

Veolia Water in Thailand is promoting this campaign through a painting contest organized with the Concordian International School of Bangkok. Concordian International School has previous connections with our Company since it visited one of the GUSCO waste water treatment plants last October in Bangkok as part of their specific school environment program about environment and health issues.

Peace: We put two peace signs so that there would be lots of peace in the world.

World: We put the world in the middle because we live in the world and we are trying to make it a better place for everyone by making our environment better so we can stay fit and healthy.

Pollution: We drew the smoke coming out from the pipe because that represent pollution and we put the X there too - that represents no pollution.

Coconut tree: We drew the coconut tree because that was the easiest tree to draw (for us!) and that represents the green spaces.

Red Cross: We drew the Red Cross because that was the hospital symbol and we want to have many hospitals. So that if semeone is sick then thay can go to the nearest hospital.

Schools: We drew the school because we want more International schools so that we can learn more languages. Il we know many languages we can travel the world and visit many countries. This will make us happy.

With the help of their teachers, over 30 pupils from grades 3 and 4 (9 to 10 years old) have been working hard on the educational material provided by Veolia Environnement in order to have their "Streamer" painting and text finalized for the deadline of 22nd March, fixed as the selection day for the winning Streamer.

Selection of the Winning Streamer on 22nd March

On the afternoon of the World Water Day on 22nd March, the members of the jury gathered to select the winning Streamer from among many colorful and original streamers designed by the children.

The Jury was composed of:

  • Mr. Peter Stanley, representative of the teaching profession;
  • Mr. Terry Chatfield, Managing Director of Veolia Water Thailand;
  • Mr. Suriya Suptanasinkasem, Managing Director of GUSCO;
  • Mrs Kanittha Hanirattisai, representative of UNESCO ASPnet.
  • With support from the Veolia Water organizing committee (Kris Chau & Magaly Piguet).

The winning Steamer

The winning Steamer has been chosen as it was the one which best symbolizes the message of children in protecting the environment and health.

The Concordian School winning team of Thailand will reproduce their Streamer on a real flag fabric on 3rd May at the occasion of an official local ceremony.
