Streamers around the world

After the unmitigated success of the campaign'A Scroll around the world' and of the'Water Seekers' competition, Veolia Environnement is launching a new international campaign. Called'Streamers around the world', this campaign aims to raise awareness among children about environmental and health issues.

The principle

Children from all five continents will be asked to draw their visions of health and the environment on a streamer (flag).
Their drawings will be accompanied by a short text explaining their ideas about these issues and describing the simple things that we can all do to protect nature and to lead a healthy life.

As the "streamers" float in the breeze, the children's symbolic messages will be blown all around the world!

Flying high on ships' masts, flags tend to evoke the adventure of travel and the solidarity of a community.
The'Streamers around the world' project is all about collecting messages from children around the globe and passing them on to people of all ages.
Basically, it is an invitation to look after our environment and our health!"

A magnificent symbol of hope

With the same united spirit that is embodied by the UN or the Olympic Games, I will gather all the'streamers' to form a great collection of messages of hope for our planet.

The major strength of the operation will be the educational approach encouraging children aged between 9-11 years to discover the different facets of their hometown, and to understand the connection between the environment and health.

The international dimension of the campaign is a pledge of mobilisation and creativity. The winning class will draw again their design on a largesize flag during a local ceremony, which will also be a chance to involve both clients and local officials.

The streamers will be hoisted during'World Environment Day' on June 5th 2005, which will also be a special'Veolia Environnement Open Day'.
