The event
In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, A Scroll Around the World made a stop at Hawley Environmental School, which is noted for its exceptional environmental science curriculum. On-hand for the event were local corporate and government dignitaries, including Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker.
The scroll was greeted by a traditional Chinese lion dance.Four students, winners of a drawing contest for the event, then added their messages to the scroll.While the young artists were working, classmates at Hawley Environmental School sang an environmental song, and local dignitaries shared their views on the importance of conserving our precious natural resources.
The event concluded with refreshments, including fortune cookies containing environmental messages.
